General Notes for John Haworth
STATE OF INDIANA, PARK COUNTY

MARCH 28, 1842

Dear Uncle and Aunt,

I embrace the present time to write a few lines to inform you that all in tolerable good health at this time, hoping that these few lines may find you all enjoying good health which is one of the greatest blessing this world can afford. This will inform you that I received your letter of the 29th of 10 mo. 1842. It was nearly three months before it came to hand. I will inform you that our connections, as far as I can understand, are all in good health. Uncle Micajah's son Stephanus lost his wife the second of February last. James Haworth's wife had a serve spell of sickness the fore part of this month. She was so low that they had two doctors with her, but she has now recovered and is about her work.

Uncle Micajah and Aunt Emily ( Polly) are in good health as could be expected, though they are failing, Aunt Emily is particular. Barnabas Haworth lost his youngest child sometime in February , with the bold hives. It was sick only about twelve hours. It was 18 months old.

We had a fine son on the sixth of this month. We have not named him yet. James Haworth's two oldest girls are married. Elizabeth married William Conaway, the same man we hauled 300 miles when we went in North Carolina. Mary married Richard Davis, Absalom Haworth's step son. Aunt Emily wants to know where that Shaw lives who married Ruth Davis. What is his name and how are they coming on? Uncle George's Polly and John here today and they and family are as well as common.

Stephanus and Susie and Family are all well as far as we know.
This from John and Lucy Haworth.

The above letter was folded and sealed with the old time seal, and bears the postmark of Rockville, Iowa Post Office. In place of a stamp the figures 25 cents are written in the upper right hand corner, showing it cost the writer 25 cents to mail it.
